About Me
I’m a Director of Engineering at Dropbox, where I lead product engineering teams across the Dropbox for Business experience, including sync, storage management, and purchasing systems.
My work is centered on a simple but difficult challenge: how to scale teams and systems without losing quality, ownership, or accountability.
Over the past eighteen years, I’ve worked as both a software engineer and engineering leader across large-scale technology companies and mission-driven organizations. Before Dropbox, I was a Lead Frontend Engineer at Apple, and earlier in my career I built web and mobile products for global brands.
How I Think About Engineering
I don’t view engineering as separate from product.
My background in design and photography shaped how I approach building software. I care deeply about how things feel to users, not just how they function. The best engineering teams I’ve seen operate with strong product intuition, not just technical excellence.
I focus on:
- Building high-performing teams with strong ownership
- Creating execution systems that enable consistent delivery
- Developing leaders who can operate with clarity and judgment at scale
Community
I serve on the board of Dev/Mission, a nonprofit focused on training diverse young adults for careers in technology.
Their mission is to build economic mobility by connecting overlooked communities to real opportunities in tech.
Outside of Work
I live in Walnut Creek, California with my wife Michelle, our daughter Sabina, and our dog Molly.
Outside of work, I spend my time snowboarding, mountain biking, camping, and exploring new restaurants.
Philosophy
“If you want to build a ship, don’t gather people to collect wood. Teach them to long for the sea.”
I believe great teams are built by creating clarity of purpose — so people don’t just execute, they drive.
